Preparing couples for marriage, building strong marriages and helping hurting couples is a significant part of Marriage Ministry. A Marriage Mentorship Ministry provides an opportunity for the church to better meet the various needs of couples and creates a culture in the church for more authentic community. In this breakout session, Susan and Doug will provide a framework for starting or expanding a Marriage Mentorship Ministry including tips for training and equipping mentors and mentees.
Doug serves as a counselor and teacher with the Family Freedom Ministry at Kingsland Baptist Church in Katy, TX. He is passionate about helping marriages heal and grow and to see individuals grow in their relationship with God. He is currently participating in a 2-year Spiritual Formation program with the Renovaré Institute to deepen his own walk with God and passing along what he is learning on his blog. Doug has been married to Wendy for 38 years and they have two adult children and one grandchild.
Susan's passion is for individuals and families to experience freedom in Christ and connect deeply with God. Susan's role at Kingsland is Adult Minister.She is the author and founder of Breakthroughs which is a 13-week class to help people experience freedom from strongholds in their lives. Breakthroughs also equips parents to lead their family to freedom. Susan and her husband, Terry, have been married for 32 years and are blessed with a son (and his wife) and daughter.Susan and Terry love the simple things in life - spending time with their family, going on walks, coffee on the back porch, fishing and trips to the ocean.
