Summer Family Discipleship Bucket List

Summer is a great time to build intentional rhythms of discipleship for your family.  The beautiful thing about family discipleship is it can happen everywhere.  God’s call for family discipleship in the book of Deuteronomy is very clear-check out what it says:

4“Listen, Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead.  Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your city gates.

So what does that mean for us as parents:

Number 1: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength. God’s word should be in your heart….then,

Number 2: Talk about his word with your children.  Discipleship is an ongoing conversation about what God has done, is doing and will do.  So talk about is…when you sit, when you go out, when you lie down and when you rise up.  Which includes all the Summer Activities we do as families.  On the beach, on the road trip, at the rest-stop, at the water park, in the pool, when you lie down after a fun filled day, when you get up to go play.  Summer is a GREAT time to be intentional about family discipleship.

We have created a Family Discipleship Bucket List to help you intentionally build a rhythm of Family Discipleship into your busy Summer schedule. We pray you will use this resource to plan with your family. We included a Guide to the 4 Habits of Faith to help your family prepare and understand God’s call for family discipleship.   Download the How To instructions and the Bucket list and schedule a time as a family to make a plan!
