As we watch our kids grow, we move from a place of managing their activities and time to teaching them how to manage these things. When it comes time for teenagers to begin driving, as their parents, we need to set good boundaries and rules for how and when they use vehicles. Using a contract is an excellent way to communicate your expectations as a parent while simultaneously teaching your children how to set boundaries for themselves. We have provided some example contracts to help you get started below. We hope you will use these as a guide with your kids; feel free to use the editable version to customize it for your family. If you haven’t read 4 Principles for Creating Family Contracts, we encourage you to start there for great information about writing family contracts.
