A Fruit-Filled Christmas

It’s the Christmas season, and you know what that makes me think of? Fruit! Ok, not really. We don’t usually associate Christmas with fruit trees or fruit salad or really, fruit in general. But, did you know that the Christmas story is actually a pretty fruity story? Well, Fruit of the Spirit, that is! The Christmas story is full of examples of the Fruit of the Spirit. Over the next few weeks, we’re going to look at each of the graces listed as Fruit of the Spirit and explore how each trait can be seen in the Christmas story.

You will read out of the Bible, read a little story about that day’s fruit, and talk through a discussion question. While you’re doing this, we encourage you to use the fruit scented markers to color in the fruit shapes we’ve included. You can attach these fruit cut outs to a string to create a fruity garland to add to your Christmas decorations this year!

You’ll notice that this year, we included the Scripture references each day, but not the actual Bible text itself. This was on purpose! We want your family to open the Bible together and read from God’s Word itself.

Before your family jumps in to the rest of this devotional, start by reading Galatians 5:22-23. Discuss this question: How might these verses relate to Christmas?
