ABIDE Prayer: A New Creation

The purpose of ABIDE is to seek God through prayer, rely on the Spirit as we gather together, and pray with unity and purpose. ABIDE prayers are Scripture-led and Spirit-focused prayers.

Scripture tells us that when we receive Christ as our Savior, we are new creations. God gives us a new life in Christ!

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!”  (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Prayers of Thanksgiving

Question: What has Christ done in your life that is a testimony (tells the story) of how He has changed your life?

Prayer:  Jesus, thank you for ______________________ (fill in the blank with a way your life or family has been changed because of the new life you’ve been given in Christ).

Prayers to Believe

Question:  What do you need God to help you believe about your new identity in Christ – a “new creation”?

Prayer:  God, help me believe __________________ (fill in the blank with any truth about your identity in Christ that you need God to help you believe).

Prayers to Live Like a New Creation

“I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)

Because Christ lives in us, we can live our lives differently as we put our faith in Jesus and in His power to work in us and through us.

Question:  Where do you need Jesus to work in you and through you today so that you are living as a new creation in Christ?

Prayer:  Jesus, I need you ____________________ (fill in the blank with whatever situation, trial, relationship or perhaps emotions/mindsets that you need Jesus to help you feel/think/live as a new creation in Christ).

Closing PrayerJesus, thank you for giving your life for us so that we are new creations in Christ!  Speak to our hearts as we open your Word today and help us live like new creations in Christ. In Jesus Name, Amen.
