ABIDE Prayer: God’s Love
The purpose of ABIDE is to seek God through prayer, rely on the Spirit as we gather together, and pray with unity and purpose. ABIDE prayers are Scripture-led and Spirit-focused prayers.
Our hearts are in desperate need of God’s love. For us to “experience, true fulfillment in Jesus Christ,” we need to acknowledge our desperate need for God’s love and continually receive His love for us and extend His love to others. The prayers in today’s ABIDE focus on asking God to help us receive His love, extend His love to others and to love God more fully. Let’s begin our time by reflecting on 1 John 4:9-10 and thanking God for His love for us.
Prayers of Thanksgiving
God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his one and only Son into the world so that we might live through him. Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins (1 John 4:9-10).
Prayer: God, thank you for ________________________ (fill in the blanks with ways God shows His love to you).
Prayers to Receive God’s Love
The pain, sin and brokenness in our lives can greatly impact the way we view God’s love. Scripture tells us in Psalm 103:8, “The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love” (Psalm 103:8). Let’s ask God to help us see God’s love for us more clearly and to accept God’s love for us more deeply.
Prayer: God, help me accept your unconditional, all-consuming love for me in a deeper way.
Prayer to Love God
He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37)
Prayer: God, help me to love you with my whole heart. Heal my heart of misconceptions about you and set me free from any walls that hinder me from loving you with my whole heart.
Prayer for Others to Know God’s Love
Prayer: God, help ________________________ (fill in the blank with the name of people the Spirit brings to mind) to experience a greater revelation of how deeply you love him/her).
Prayer to Love Others
Dear Friends, let us love one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God (1 John 4:7).

Closing Prayer
God, thank you for loving me, especially when I don’t feel lovable. Help me know your love more deeply. Teach me and empower me by your Spirit to love others and love you with my whole heart. In Jesus Name, Amen.
