Our Redeemer Lives!

But I know my Redeemer lives, and at the end he will stand on the dust.  (Job 19:25)

Let’s begin ABIDE by taking a moment to quiet our hearts and minds – to be still before God.

You may want to pray a “breath prayer” as you inhale and exhale, such as, “Jesus, my Redeemer.”

Opening Prayer

Prayer: Father, we love you and we need you.  Holy Spirit, fill us and lead us as we gather to pray and study Scripture.  We dedicate this time to you and what you have for us to receive from you as your sons and daughters. Remove any distractions and help us to focus our hearts on you.  In Jesus Name, Amen.

Prayers of Thanksgiving and Praise

When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man. He laid his right hand on me and said, “Don’t be afraid. I am the First and the Last, and the living One. I was dead, but look – I am alive forever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and Hades.”  (Revelation 1:17-18)

As God’s sons and daughters, we are deeply loved.  Jesus gave His life for us and delivered us from darkness.  We belong to God and nothing can ever separate us from Him. As we consider the cost of being redeemed and how our lives are forever changed because our Redeemer lives – let’s thank Him and praise Him.

Prayer:  Jesus, we/I praise you ____________________________________(fill in the blank with prayers of praise and thanksgiving to Jesus – our Redeemer).

Prayer for Our Heart

Let the redeemed of the LORD proclaim that he has redeemed them from the power of the foe. (Psalm 107:2)

What has Jesus set you free from in your life?  How has Jesus changed your heart, your life, your family through His redeeming power?

Prayer:  Jesus, thank you for setting me free and redeeming ___________________________(fill in the blank with whatever the Spirit brings to mind as you consider what Jesus has done in your life/family). In Jesus Name.

Prayer for Our Heart & Other’s Hearts

For he has satisfied the thirsty and filled the hungry with good things.  (Psalm 107:9)

Apart from Jesus, we thirst and we hunger to be filled.  Our Redeemer is the only one who can quench our thirst and give us the true fulfillment that our hearts crave.  Let’s pray for our hearts to seek and receive true fulfillment in Jesus Christ and pray for those the Spirit brings to mind to seek and receive from Jesus as well.

Prayer:  Jesus, we/I pray for my heart and for________________________to seek and receive true fulfillment in you.  Help us receive deeply from you. In Jesus Name.

Closing Prayer

Jesus, thank you for giving your life on a Cross for us so that we could be redeemed. Thank you for rescuing us and redeeming us from the power of sin, darkness and death. Forgive us for taking for granted what you did for us on the Cross.  You are our Redeemer. We love you. In Jesus Name, Amen.
