God’s Power
Our Father is always with us. No matter what we are walking through in our lives, we are not alone. Our Father, who is LORD, is with us and His power is in us.
Scripture tells us, “Now to him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us.” (Ephesians 3:20)
Let’s begin ABIDE by taking a moment to quiet our hearts and minds – to be still before God.
You may want to pray a “breath prayer” as you inhale and exhale, such as, “Father, you are all-powerful”.
Opening Prayer
Note: If you are leading a small group through ABIDE, pray the first prayer below over those you are leading. If you are praying ABIDE alone, use the second prayer.
Small Group Prayer: Father, we love you and we need you. Holy Spirit, fill us and lead us as we gather to pray and study Scripture. We dedicate this time to you and what you have for us to receive from you as your sons and daughters. Remove any distractions and help us to focus our hearts on you. In Jesus Name.
Personal Prayer: Father, I give my heart to you. I surrender every area of my life to you. I choose to trust you with my whole heart and with everything in my life. You are my good, good Father who loves me. You are faithful, all-knowing and all-powerful. Remove any distractions from me and help me focus on you. Holy Spirit, fill me and help me discern your voice as I pray. In Jesus’ Name.
Prayer of Praise
God, you are awe-inspiring in your sanctuaries. The God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Blessed be God! (Psalm 68:35)
What comes to mind when you think of God’s power? In what ways have you witnessed God’s power? How is God revealing His power to you today? As God reminds you of His power, let’s praise Him for His power.
Prayer: Father, we/I praise you for the way you reveal your power through_____________________ (fill in the blank with how God has revealed His power in the past and how He is revealing His power in your life today). In Jesus Name.
Prayer for Our Hearts
God, you are awe-inspiring in your sanctuaries. The God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Blessed be God! (Psalm 68:35)
Our God is all-powerful and He gives us, His sons and daughters, His power and strength. Where do you need God’s strength and power in your life today? Acknowledging our weakness and our need for God’s strength and power opens our hearts to receive from our all-powerful God.
Prayer: God, thank you that you want me to receive your strength and power. We/I confess my need for your strength and power in__________________________(name the specific places in your life that you need God’s strength and power today). Help me to receive your power. In Jesus Name.
Prayer for Others’ Hearts
As the Spirit brings people to mind, let’s pray for God to give them His strength and power.
Prayer: God, we/I pray for____________________________. Give him/her your strength and power today. Overwhelm him/her with your presence. Remind him/her that you are all-powerful and it’s your desire to give him/her your strength and power. In Jesus Name.
Closing Prayer
Father, thank you that you promise to give us strength as we put our trust in you (Isaiah 40:31). Help us to trust you with our whole hearts. Help us to surrender our lives fully to you and trust you. Release us from burdens that we are carrying. Remove from us anything that is hindering us from receiving your strength and your power. In Jesus Name, Amen.
