ABIDE Prayer: Jesus, Our Redeemer
The purpose of ABIDE is to seek God through prayer, rely on the Spirit as we gather together, and pray with unity and purpose. ABIDE prayers are Scripture-led and Spirit-focused prayers.
“LORD, you have searched me and know me.” (Psalm 139:1)
Scripture tells us our Father searches us and knows us. He knows everything about us. Our Father knows our pain, our joys, our sins and our battles. There is not one thing about us that the LORD does not know or a place in our hearts that He does not see. We are known completely by our Father and loved deeply, unconditionally.
Let’s begin ABIDE by opening our hearts and minds to our Father, humbling ourselves in the presence of our Creator.
Prayers of Praise
“For the life of every living thing is in His hand, as well as the breath of all mankind.” (Job 12:10)
Prayer: Father God, you are our Creator, and we worship you! We love you, and we praise you for the precision with which you’ve created us. Thank you for the life you’ve given us and for the very breath we use now to pray to you. We praise you for ________________________ (fill in the blank with prayers of praise to God.)
Prayers for Our Hearts
“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14)
Let’s make a decision today to trust Jesus as our heart’s redeemer. Whatever we are holding onto or fearing or whatever is weighing us down or causing us pain, we can bring to Jesus, our Redeemer, through prayer.
Prayer: Jesus, I trust you with my heart. You created my heart and have seen it in ways I cannot understand. You see the places I can only feel, and you love me even still. Jesus, I give you _________________________ (fill in the blank with whatever you are experiencing in your life that is painful or causing you to feel a distance from Jesus or others).
Prayers for Others
Prayer: Father God, there are people in my life, my family, church, and community who are agonizing over what they should have done differently. They are believing the enemy’s lies and allowing his shame and condemnation to keep their hearts from you. Help me know who to pray for by bringing the names of those individuals or families to mind.
Prayer: Jesus, I lift up ____________________________ (name someone the Lord had brought to your mind) to you. Protect him/her from the lies of the enemy and remind _________________________ that you have given your life so they can receive healing, strength and grace in you.
Closing Prayer
Father God, thank you for the gift of prayer. Thank you that you speak to our hearts and gift us with an honor we didn’t earn, the honor to pray for the lives, homes, and hearts of those around us. We love you. We worship you. We thank you for your Son, Jesus Christ, who is our Redeemer. He unifies us in His love. In Jesus Name, Amen.
