The Victorious Spirit of Love

Let’s begin ABIDE by lifting up prayers of praise and thanksgiving to Jesus and how our lives are forever changed because of Him. 

Prayers of Praise & Thanksgiving 

Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9) 

Only His power will make us effective for Him, loving others in how He calls us to love them. He will help us do the work of love that has lasting value.  

Prayer: Father God, I thank you for your __________________ (name an attribute of God). Your power never loses its charge, and your resources are abundant for the call you’ve placed on your sons and daughters to endure.  

Prayers for our Surrendering Hearts 

Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. (Ephesians 4:2-3) 

Loving through difficult seasons often requires supernatural love that comes from our Father in Heaven. As we stay rooted in His presence, He consumes us and lifts our heads to see from above with His loving eyes. God fills us with His perfect love that pierces through the cloudiness of adversity landing on all who surround us. We love well in difficult seasons despite our feelings or emotions, because of our Father’s great love.  

Prayer: Father, fill me with your perfect love. Right now, as difficulties surround me and my emotions are tender, I surrender ______________________ (name silently or aloud what you surrender to God) to you. Bind my heart to yours, Lord. I need your ____________________ (name an attribute of God), to love out of humility, gentleness, and patience.  

Prayer for Others 

Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. (Ephesians 3:17-18)  

Prayer: Lord, let your roots of love grow deep within all who surround us. (Pause and allow the Spirit to bring situations and names that are in need of His deep love). Father, we give these hearts to you. Lord, may our abiding connection with you bring such life and unity to the love you offer that the effect impacts __________________ (name a community, country, demographic, etc.) in a way that brings glory to your name alone.  

Closing  

God, while we desire to do everything to bring you absolute honor and glory, you first have called us to love others as ourselves in the same way you love us. We know that you provide all we need to endure and fulfill your call on our lives.  

Closing Prayer

Father, thank you for your example of love. We rejoice in your promise that you are with us as we walk through the valleys. You are filling our souls, which house your Spirit, with growth of all that brings you glory. Your love is victorious over all difficulty. Father, I, __________________ (name your name), love you and surrender to you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
