ABIDE Prayer: God is Faithful
The purpose of ABIDE is to seek God through prayer, rely on the Spirit as we gather together, and pray with unity and purpose. ABIDE prayers are Scripture-led and Spirit-focused prayers.
God is faithful, and we can trust Him. God also knows that we have trouble trusting Him with our whole hearts, especially when we are walking through a painful or difficult time in our lives. The enemy does not want us to trust God with our whole hearts, so he targets our hearts with arrows of doubt in an attempt to keep us from trusting God.
Let’s make a decision today to proclaim that God is faithful and we can trust Him!
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and bless his name. For the LORD is good, and his faithful love endures forever; his faithfulness, through all generations” (Psalm 100:4-5).
Prayers of Praise
God, we come to you today with our praises. We praise you because you are_________________ (fill in the blank with a name of God or an attribute of God).
Prayer of Thanksgiving
God, we bless your name! Your faithful love endures forever. Thank you for your faithfulness in_________________ (fill in the blank with a way God is being faithful to you today).
As our Father, God wants us to trust Him completely – with our whole hearts. We get to bring our praises to God, but we also get to bring our doubts and fears to God. We don’t have the power to turn our doubts and fears into faith, but God does! We simply need to be honest with ourselves and with God and ask Him to help us trust Him – especially with the hard things in our lives.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Prayers of Confession
God, I want to trust you with my whole heart. I confess that it is difficult for me to trust you with _________________ (fill in the blank with something that is difficult for you to trust God with in your life – examples: children, finances, future, value and purpose in life, illness). Help me to trust you with my whole heart, because you are faithful!
Prayers of Intercession
God, you promise to make our paths straight when we acknowledge you and depend on you and not ourselves. It doesn’t mean that we don’t feel pain or experience difficulty in life, but rather you will work in our lives and do what is best for us and your Kingdom. You will remove confusion and chaos when we put our trust in you.
God, remove the confusion and chaos in_________________ (fill in the blank with something in your life, family or someone the Spirit puts on your heart). Help us trust you with our whole hearts and depend on you to give us wisdom, direction and provision.
Prayers of Remembrance
God, you have been so faithful to me. Thank you for making my path straight when I trusted you with_________________ (fill in the blank with something that you trusted God with in the past).
Closing Prayer
God, thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you that you are speaking to our hearts and leading us into a deeper relationship with you. We ask you to lead us and bless us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
