ABIDE Prayer: God Is Our Peace
The purpose of ABIDE is to seek God through prayer, rely on the Spirit as we gather together, and pray with unity and purpose. ABIDE prayers are Scripture-led and Spirit-focused prayers.
Today’s ABIDE Prayer focuses on God’s peace. The biblical definition of the word peace is safety, prosperity, well-being; intactness, wholeness; a focus of security. All these words describe the peace made available to us as God’s sons and daughters through our relationship with Him.
Scripture tells us, “Abundant peace belongs to those who love your instruction; nothing makes them stumble” (Psalm 119:165).
“Though the mountains move and the hills shake, my love will not be removed from you and my covenant of peace will not be shaken,” says your compassionate LORD” (Isaiah 54:10).
Prayers of Thanksgiving
“The LORD gives his people strength; the LORD blesses his people with peace” (Psalm 29:11).
Where are you experiencing God’s peace in your life today? Thank God for His peace in the various areas of your life where you are experiencing His peace.
God, thank you for your peace in ________________________ (fill in the blank with areas of your life where you have God’s peace).
Prayers for God’s Peace
“You will keep the mind that is dependent on you in perfect peace, for it is trusting in you. Trust in the LORD forever; because in the LORD, the LORD himself, is an everlasting rock” (Isaiah 26: 3-4).
Where do you need God’s peace today? Where are you struggling to trust God and receive His peace? God knows where you are facing difficult circumstances, the battles you fight emotionally and how the enemy is attacking you. God never condemns us but wants us to see our struggles clearly and to lead us to place our trust fully in Him.
Prayer: God, I need you to help me trust you with _______________________ (fill in the blank with whatever is robbing you of God’s peace because you are struggling to trust Him with it). Ask God to help you trust Him.
Prayers for Others
“So then, let us pursue what promotes peace and what builds up one another” (Romans 14:19).
There are people all around us who need God’s peace. One of the ways we can bless others is by praying for God to give them His peace. We can promote peace by the words we use to speak about our lives and their lives. Ask the Spirit to speak and to bring to mind people you can pray for today to experience God’s peace.
God, would you bless _____________________ today with your peace. Help him/her to trust you as their “everlasting Rock” who gives them abundant peace as they trust in you.
Closing Prayer
Lord, we surrender our worries, anxieties, fears at your feet. We are claiming and declaring Your promises for blessings of peace and strength over our lives. Bring your peace that passes all worldly understanding into our souls and make me a light for others to see Your strength. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
