ABIDE Prayer: God Loves You
The purpose of ABIDE is to seek God through prayer, rely on the Spirit as we gather together, and pray with unity and purpose. ABIDE prayers are Scripture-led and Spirit-focused prayers.
Today’s Focus: God Loves You
Begin ABIDE by inviting the Spirit to lead your time of prayer. Ask the Spirit to speak to your heart and guide you as you pray. You may want to be silent a moment and simply recognize the Spirit’s presence within you.
Prayers of Worship
Read the following Scriptures and consider the depth of God’s love for you:
“For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.” (1 Peter 1: 3 –4)
“For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life inherited from your fathers, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb.” (1 Peter 1:18-19)
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9)
“For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God. He was put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.” (1 Peter 3:18)
Prayer: Lord, in response to what you did for us at the Cross, we worship you.
Lift up prayers of worship to the Lord for what He gave you through His death at the Cross and His resurrection. Lord, we worship you_______________ (fill in the blank with prayers of worship).
Prayers of Faith
We can trust God at all times because He loves us, is all-powerful and faithful. God is working all things out in our lives for our good and His purpose. Scripture says, “We know all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).
Prayer: God, we choose to trust you with ______________ because you love us and are working things out for our good and your purpose for our lives. (Fill in the blank with whatever the Spirit brings to mind.)
Receiving God’s Love
God wants us to receive His love in a deeply personal way. However, our past hurts and lies from the enemy create “walls” that hinder us from receiving God’s the depth of God’s love. Scripture tells us, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor any created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:37-39).
Prayer: Ask God to help you receive His love for you in a deeper way. Ask God to remove any “walls” that need to be removed so you can receive deeply His love for you.
Closing Prayer: God, thank you for pouring your love out for us – for me at the Cross. Help me receive your love for me. As your son/daughter, I want to receive your love, walk in your love and love others the way you love me. Fill me with your Spirit and show me how to love like you love me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
