ABIDE Prayer: God Who Answers Prayer with Wisdom and Power
The purpose of ABIDE is to seek God through prayer, rely on the Spirit as we gather together, and pray with unity and purpose. ABIDE prayers are Scripture-led and Spirit-focused prayers.
In this ABIDE, we will join Daniel in blessing the God of heaven for revealing His wisdom and power through answered prayer.
“The mystery was then revealed to Daniel in a vision at night, and Daniel praised the God of the heavens and declared…” (Daniel 2:19-20a)
Prayers of Praise
“…May the name of God be praised forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to him.” (Daniel 2:20b)
Let’s begin our ABIDE time by praising God for his wisdom and power revealed to us through answered prayers.
Prayer: God, I will bless your name forever and ever. I thank You and praise You for demonstrating your wisdom and power in my life when you answered my prayer. (Ask the Lord to remind you of answered prayers that have revealed to you his power and wisdom.)
Prayers of Acknowledgement
“He changes the times and seasons; he removes kings and establishes kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.” (Daniel 2:21)
Take a moment as you read over the verses above and ask the Holy Spirit to bring peace to your heart this week as you ascribe to God the glory He is due for his sovereign control over everything in our lives and in the world.
Prayer: Father, I admit that at times I’ve been tempted to believe that my life and the world I live in is out of control. However, I acknowledge that you are still very much in control of it all; I choose to believe in your sovereign rule over all things and I trust you with my present and my future. (Pour out your heart to the Lord over any area in your life or in our nation that has caused you to doubt His power or wisdom, and re-affirm your belief in the truths that you read in Daniel 2:21-22.)
Prayers of Petition
“He reveals the deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with him.” (Daniel 2:22)
Prayer: Lord, there’s so much I feel like I don’t know or understand about what You’re doing in my life and in the world right now. However, I recognize that You are all-powerful and wise. I ask you to continue to reveal yourself to me through your Word and prayer. Shine the light of Your truth in ___________ (fill in the blank with any “deep, dark or hidden” areas of your life where the answer to your prayers is still unknown.)
Closing Prayer: Father, when Daniel’s life was on the line, You revealed your power and wisdom to everyone by answering his prayer. Thank you that the same power and wisdom from above is available to me when I ask. I recognize that I am often in a place where I don’t know what to do, but I will keep looking to you (2 Chronicles 20:12). Please continue to guide my family and our nation with your power and wisdom.
“You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our Savior. You are the hope of everyone on earth…” (Psalm 65:5)
