ABIDE Prayer: Psalm 3
The purpose of ABIDE is to seek God through prayer, rely on the Spirit as we gather together, and pray with unity and purpose. ABIDE prayers are Scripture-led and Spirit-focused prayers.
As God’s sons and daughters, we are invited to bring our whole heart to God in prayer, which includes our doubts, fears, struggles and the spiritual warfare we encounter. Our Father promises to fight for us and bless us when we cry out to Him in prayer.
Prayers of Praise
“Rise up, LORD! Save me, my God! You strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked. Salvation belongs to the LORD; may your blessings be on your people.” (Psalm 3:7-8)
Our God fights for us and He gives us victory in our battles. Let’s begin ABIDE with prayers of praise to our God for fighting for us and with thanksgiving for His blessings.
Prayer: God, we praise you for ____________________ (fill in the blank with praises to God for the victories He has given you).
Prayer: God, thank you for _______________________ (fill in the blank with blessings that God has given you, His son/daughter).
Battle Prayers for My Heart
“LORD, how my foes increase! There are many who attack me. Many say about me, ‘There is no help for him in God.’” (Psalm 3:1-2)
Question: What are you facing in life and what lies is the enemy telling you to discourage you and make you feel alone, afraid or hopeless?
Prayer: God, thank you that you see ___________________ (name the trial, circumstance or burden you are carrying) and you know the lies the enemy is telling me. Help me believe the truth that _______________________ (fill in the blank with truth you know about God).
Battle Prayers for Others
“But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.” (Psalm 3: 3)
Question: What are others in our church, community and nation facing that is creating anxiety, fear and hopelessness? Let’s pray for God to set them free from the lie that they are alone and remind them of the truth that God is with them and fighting for them.
Prayer: God, we lift up those who are facing ___________________ and ask that you remind them you are with them and fighting for them because you love them.
Closing Prayer: Father, thank you that Scripture tells us, “I cry out to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain” (Psalm 3:4). Thank you for your faithfulness to us and for your promise to answer us when we cry out to you. Open our hearts and minds to receive what you have for us as we study your Word together. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
