Faithfulness

Know that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps his gracious covenant loyalty for a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commands. (Deuteronomy 7:9)

Let’s begin ABIDE by lifting up prayers of praise and thanksgiving to Jesus for how our lives are forever changed by His faithfulness.

Prayers of Praise & Thanksgiving

Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for his mercies never end. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness! (Lamentations 3:22-23)

Prayer: Father, we thank you for daily growing our faith. Thank you for forgiving all our sins through the work of Jesus and may we never take the miracle of your grace for granted. May we stand daily overwhelmed by your love which sets our faith ablaze, spreading to those around us. Thank you for your faithfulness in rescuing me from _________________________ (name a time God has rescued you). Father, you continuously renew our hearts with your faithfulness.

Prayers for our Hearts

If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny himself. (2 Timothy 2:13)

Prayer: Father, you are always faithful to us.  That is Who You are, and your Word reveals your faithfulness to your people time and time again. We confess our lack of faith which causes us to wander; please forgive us. Help me to continually place my faith in you during this season of __________________ (name an area where you need to trust in His faithfulness). Father, guide our hearts through your Word and by your Spirit.  Teach us what it means to be faithful to you during each part of our day as well as the big moments of life.

Prayer for Others

For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost. (Luke 19:10)

Prayer: Father, there are loved ones around us who are walking with one foot in this world – filled with hopelessness, lacking faith in anything. Cause our faith to grow through your Spirit’s abundance and draw these people fully into your kingdom. Jesus, we give you _____________________ (silently name people in your life or around you who need salvation). God, a life lived with faith through salvation which overcomes, withstands, and brings joy is the greatest gift we can receive. We ask in Your powerful name that the ones lost around us experience Your great faith.

Closing Prayer

Father, we echo in our hearts the words to this beautiful hymn today as we express our gratitude to you for your faithfulness to us.  “Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father; There is no shadow of turning with Thee. Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not. As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be. Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see. All I have needed Thy hand hath provided, Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!”
