ABIDE Prayer: Set Free
The purpose of ABIDE is to seek God through prayer, rely on the Spirit as we gather together, and pray with unity and purpose. ABIDE prayers are Scripture-led and Spirit-focused prayers.
Let’s focus on the freedom Jesus gave us through His life, death and resurrection – the Gospel.
Prayers – Praise & Thanksgiving
“If the Son sets you free, you really will be free.” (John 8:36)
As God’s son and daughters, we have been set free. Let’s begin ABIDE with prayers of praise and thanksgiving to Jesus for setting us free at the Cross.
Prayer: Jesus, I worship you and thank you for setting me free from _____________________ (fill in the blank with prayers of praise and thanksgiving to Jesus for what Jesus has set you free from in your life).
Prayers – For Freedom
“For freedom, Christ set us free. Stand firm then and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1)
Question: Where do you feel “not free?” Where are you striving to earn God’s love and acceptance? What lies is the enemy telling you about your relationship with God?
Prayer: God, help me believe the truth of your unconditional love and acceptance as your son/daughter instead of ________________________ (fill in the blank with either lies the enemy is telling you or ways you are trying to earn God’s love and acceptance) and set me free!
Prayers – Lead us to Truth
“Make your ways known to me, LORD; teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; I wait for you all day long.” (Psalm 25:4-5)
Question: Where do you need God’s truth in your life today? Where in your life are you confused and need direction? Where do you need God to guide you into His truth?
Prayer: LORD, I need you to guide me into your truth ____________________ (fill in the blank with whatever situation, relationship, trials, emotions, thoughts where you need God to guide you into His truth).
Closing Prayer: Father, thank you that we are your sons and daughters. Thank you for sending Jesus to set us free. Holy Spirit, lead us and speak to us as we gather to pray, study Scripture and share our lives with one another. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
